James Barnash is a principal with the consulting firm JA Barnash & Associates, which he founded in March 2009 and where he leads the business development and consulting areas. Jim also provides performance enhancement and personal development coaching for executives, business owners and high-performing professionals along with training for sales professionals and sales managers. Jim leads workshops and development programs for small and large groups and also delivers keynote addresses for organizations of all sizes.

Jim has been in the financial services industry for over thirty years. His career includes experience as an independent financial planner, a field leader for large broker-dealer firms, a corporate executive and a consultant for practice management and practice development. His focus has been on helping to deliver financial planning to all those who seek quality, ethical advice.

Jim is a sought after speaker by professional associations and consumer groups. He is a former adjunct faculty member for the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado and has also taught CFP instructional courses for his alma mater, DePaul University. Jim has provided professional training in sales and financial planning for some of Chicago's largest financial institutions, and he has designed training and educational courses for those same entities.

Active in the financial planning profession and its association, Jim was president of the National Board for the Financial Planning Association from 2001 to 2005 and served as Chair of the Association in 2006. He has been a Board member of the Chicago Society of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners and served as their president in 1998.

Jim is a member of the DePaul University College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Advisory Council, co-chairman of DePaul's Planned Giving Advisory Council and co-chairman of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Campaign 2012 task force.
