Mark Allen

Since retiring from racing as a professional triathlete in 1996, Mark Allen has become a highly regarded inspirational speaker. The Ironman Triathlon is the most difficult one-day sporting event in the world. Mark’s first six attempts, all losses, were casualties of everything from flat tires to internal bleeding. Yet each defeat served to galvanize his commitment to fulfilling his dream of becoming the Ironman Champion. Finally on his seventh attempt Mark won, beating Dave Scott in triathlon’s greatest race ever. Allen went on to win a total of six Ironman titles in six attempts. Mark completed a 15-year career in the world of elite athletics with a 90% top-three finish record and going undefeated in 20 races over a three year span from 1988-1990. He was named “Triathlete of the Year” six times, and after retiring in 1996 was called “The World’s Fittest Man” by Outside magazine. Mark was recently awarded the highest ranking any speaker ever receives from the Northwestern Financial Network for a keynote address he gave to their advisors. Mark is also an award winning author for the recently released book titled Fit Soul, Fit Body: 9 Keys to a Healthier, Happier You that he co-authored with Brant Secunda. Calvin Trillin

Trillin Calvin is acclaimed in fields of writing that are remarkably diverse. He has published pieces in The New Yorker for forty years and his wry commentary on the American scene and his comic novels have earned him renown as "a classic American humorist." His books include three comic novels (most recently, "Tepper Isn't Going Out") and a collection of short stories, a travel book and an account of the desegregation of the University of Georgia. Three of his antic books on eating "American Fried", "Alice, Let's Eat" and "Third Helpings" were compiled in 1994 into a single volume called "The Tummy Trilogy". He lectures widely and has appeared often as a guest on such television programs as "Good Morning America", "The Today Show" and "Latenight with David Letterman". He has written and presented two one man shows at the American Palace Theatre in New York- both of them critically acclaimed and sell-out. In reviewing the second show, The New York Times called Trillin "the Buster Keaton of performance humorists".
