CURING WHAT AILS THE WORLD, ONE ENTREPRENEUR AT A TIME

The Goodman Speakers Bureau Brings Doc Hendley to CMP Conclave Meeting

WINDSOR, CONN., (April 20, 2011) – As the country's certified meeting professionals (CMPs) gather in Cancun for the annual CMP Conclave, they will take time out to hear the inspirational story of how Doc Hendley is helping turn “wine to water” to benefit thousands of the world's poorest communities.  Hendley, a bartender, musician and founder of the “Wine to Water” foundation, will deliver a keynote speech at the Conclave, which will be held May 9-11 at the Hilton Cancun Golf & Spa Resort.  The keynote presentation is sponsored by Goodman Speakers Bureau.

Hendley's Wine to Water foundation hosts wine events that raise money and awareness about the lack of clean drinking water in the developing world.  He uses funds raised to dig, repair and sanitize drinking wells (and to distribute clean water and chlorine tablets) to people in Third World countries, many located inside the United Nations' dangerous "no-go" zones.  He even has helped provide clean water to people living in refugee camps in Darfur.

Hendley, who was named one of the Top 10 CNN Heroes for 2009 (chosen from over 9,000 applicants), calls himself proof that anyone, even a “tattooed keg-tapper,” can cure what ails the world. “This year, the CMP Conclave focuses on being an ‘architect for posterity,' which is what Doc Hendley is, really,” Diane Goodman, president of the Goodman Speakers Bureau, said.  “CMPs looking to be inspired and to dream big will appreciate the story of what Doc's Wine to Water foundation has accomplished, and will be amazed at the journey Doc's life has taken since dedicating himself to this cause.”

WINNINGEST COACH IN COLLEGE SPORTS HISTORY – AND ACCOMPLISHED SPEAKER – TAKES ON NEW ROLE AS COMPELLING AUTHOR

WINDSOR, CONN., September 1, 2010 – Contained within the impressive and historic campus of Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., is another piece of history: it is home to the winningest coach in all college sports, Coach Paul Assaiante. As coach of Trinity men's squash team – which holds the record for the longest winning streak of any college team, in any sport in history – Assaiante has gone unbeaten for 224 consecutive dual matches over 12 years. As a speaker (and in his new book, "Run to the Roar") he shares his reflections on coaching, mentoring, leadership, building teams, and achieving goals in life.

Celebrated author Tom Wolfe wrote the forward to Assaiante's book, which will be released by Penguin Portfolio in November 2010. Wolfe says he admires how Assaiante "describes how he turned athletes from nineteen countries and every continent on the globe except Antarctica, all of them ambitious and many of them hot-dogging egotists, into brotherly-loving, team-spirited, one-for-all-and-all-for-one creatures within their own ranks . . . and implacable warriors on the court."

The book has been praised by tennis legend Billie Jean King, writers at Sports Illustrated, and many others. What stands out in his book (and speeches), is Assaiante's passion for coaching to help develop character, soul, and dedication – lessons for every leader in all walks of life.

Coach Assaiante believes in embracing fear in order to remove the obstacles to success. Through the years, he has learned that goal setting, while important, is secondary to helping people learn first to deal with their fears. He says "What you fear owns you. Until you can free yourself from these chains- success and the joy of the journey cannot be realized."

As a speaker, author, and coach, Assaiante has shown real, raw talent. He has delivered powerful speeches to corporate audiences, public forums and young adults across the country.

Add 10 Good Years to Your Life, Longevity Experts Says

Goodman Speakers Bureau Highlights Dan Buettner, Pioneer in Exploration and

Education, and National Geographic Writer on the Key to Longevity

WINDSOR, CONN. – Dan Buettner has always set (and met) lofty goals – setting world records for endurance in cycling, creating an online archaeological mystery learning program, trekking with Soviets, and more. His most recent goal was to understand why people live longer in certain parts of the world, which he uncovers in his new book, “Living in the Blue Zone--8 Habits of the World's Longest-Lived People.”

Dan's research is also the basis of presentations he delivers to audiences across the country – from educators to corporate executives and many groups in between. In addition to explaining longevity, he outlines how to set the goal of “adding up to 10 good years to your life.”

Dan researched the secrets of longevity by leading a team around the world to uncover the longest-lived pockets (Blue Zones) in the world.

This research was published as a National Geographic cover story on longevity, which quickly became the third best-selling cover in the magazine's history. Dan has been featured on “Good Morning America,” “Anderson Cooper 360,” and he will appear in an upcoming Barbara Walters special.

In his presentations, Dan uses National Geographic images to take his audiences to the world's four Blue Zones and tell their stories. He always shares his simple formula that shows people how to add up to 10 good years to their lives.

In addition to studying longevity and breaking work cycling records, Dan is the creator of one of the nation's premier online adventure learning programs, the Quest Network™. These online expeditions have enabled millions of “explorers” to direct a team of experts as they unravel archaeological mysteries. The Washington Post called his Quests “the most successful experiment in interactive education to date.”
